Finding What Works For YOU: Don’t Let Your Genetics Control Your Destiny!

Have you ever felt that whatever you are doing or have done is just never enough?

Do you get embarrassed, sad or depressed by your multiple attempts at achieving a goal and never reaching it?

Have you tried everything possible, yet you just cannot solve the problem?

Over the years of trying and failing you eventually get diagnosed with a disease such as Coronary Artery Disease(CAD), Type 2 Diabetes(DM2), Hyperlipidemia(high cholesterol), Hypertension(high blood pressure), Cancer, or an autoimmune disease and think you were destined to get the diagnosis since your family member(s) have it. “It’s genetic” you tell yourself and others.

I want to tell you that your genetics are not your destiny!

Just because your family has or had a certain condition does not mean you should or that it will be your future.

Many diseases, including the ones that I listed above do have genetic predispositions but they are self limiting through a healthy lifestyle. http://Rappaport SM. The lifestyle in which you chose to live can change the course of your genetics and turn on/off certain aspects of your DNA which will change the course of how helathy or unhealthy you are.

It’s up to you to change your “Destiny”. Nobody can change it for you. Nobody can make you do something.

Do you know how many people over the years have told me “My parents were both diabetic, I know I will get it” or “My mom had cancer so I am doomed”. I need you to understand that you do not have to get the disease(s) of your parents or any other family member if you make the necessary changes in your life now.

A few years ago I started to have high blood pressure, treated with prescription meds; Asthma also treated with prescription inhalers; seasonal allergies and took allergy pills daily. I had low Vitamin D but was not taking my supplement routinely; Chronic pain in my back and hips treated with over the counter NSAIDS; Migraines treated with prescription medications; abnormal periods requiring surgery; Bone fracture; Fatigue. All of this eventually led to developing multiple Autoimmune diseases: Celiac, Graves, Myopathy and Cold Urticaria. I was in pain all the time, had brain fog and still had to work full time and be a productive family member. I did it but my health continued to decline because I never listened to what my body was telling me.

I tell you these things because I know that you are also suffering from some of these illnesses and others. Some of which are in my genetics such as the MIgraines, Asthma, high blood pressure, Allergies and chronic back and joint pain(arthritis). I was even the person that said “I know my insulin resistance is going to turn into Diabetes at some point”. Then……

I discovered what living an Anti-inflammatory Lifestyle can do for the mind, body and soul. Once I started on the path of treating the illnesses I quickly saw a benefit in all of my labs, weight and mindset. My stress levels decreased, my anxiety (which I would never admit that I had) decreased. I am off all prescription medications except my Thyroid pills but those have been decraesed in half! My pain is about 10% of what it was and it is only occasional not daily. I feel the best I have in many years.

An Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle is meant to decrease the chronic inflammation in the body which is known to cause illness. If done in small steps you can be very successful. By starting slowly changing your current mindset from one of frustration, lack of hope, anxiety, depression, anxiety and despair you will be able to move forward to the other steps that I mentioned earlier.
